MeDirect committed towards a better environment with its new fleet of electric cars

MeDirect Bank has always been on the forefront of innovation and of setting an example of the way forward. We always make sustainability and the environment a priority, and hence why we changed our fleet of cars to electric ones, proudly launching our new fleet of Nissan Leaf, awarded as Best Electric Vehicle in its Class for the fourth year in a row by Kelley Blue Book, a vehicle valuation and automotive research company based in the United States.

At MeDirect we are committed in playing our part in accelerating Malta’s transition to electric vehicles. Analysis shows that electric vehicles perform better than traditional ones, in terms of greenhouse gases emissions such as CO2, depletion of non-renewable resources and emissions of atmospheric pollutants affecting urban areas.  Indeed, with this change, the bank’s carbon’s footprint has cut down on a whooping 32,200 kilograms of CO2 per year.

We are converting our fleet of vehicles to take the plunge and do our bit for the environment. Electric vehicles not only help the environment in achieving less polluted air, but also your dear lungs and can also be more economically viable to run in the longer term. So, as the Bank always says: Think Ahead!

MeDirect Bank remains loyal towards Environmental, Social and Governance responsibilities in order to achieve the best possible performance.

We do encourage our esteemed clientele and employees to act on this initiative and go green too! “Replacing our car fleet is yet another step towards realising our goal to implement measures to reduce harmful environmental impact, this time by addressing transportation’s contribution to global warming.  Over the coming year, we will also be refurbishing our offices with the goal to maximise energy efficiency, as well as create an even better working environment for our staff. I must say that I am proud to be working for a company that has sustainability and corporate governance at heart” concluded Lorraine Bonello Ghio, Chief Administration Officer at MeDirect Bank.
