The Maltese National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre (NCC) organised a Cyber breakfast event on the 7th of February 2023. One of the main responsibilities of the NCC is that of fostering a National Cybersecurity Community that brings together relevant stakeholders from the private sector, the public sector, academia, and research with the ultimate goal of growing the cybersecurity field within a local and European context.
The NCC organised this Cyber Breakfast to kick-off the National Cybersecurity Community that has been launched last October 2022. This was the first from a series of business breakfast events that are intended specifically for Community members.
Keith Cauchi, MeDirect’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) was part of an interesting panel discussion titled ‘A day in the life of a CISO’ which brought together senior information security professionals working for leading organisations from the banking and online gaming industries. The discussion focused around the roles and responsibilities of a CISO including information security governance, the importance of executive support, supply chain and application security.
Together, the panel members discussed the importance of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and the importance of IT Security being aligned with the business goals. This, whilst managing risks and meeting all industry and government regulations.
