Malta Government Stocks – September 2023

Issue of Malta Government Stocks

MeDirect Bank (Malta) plc is currently accepting applications for the new Malta Government Stocks (“MGS”) for a total aggregate amount of €260,000,000 subject to an over-allotment option of €140,000,000 in the event of over-subscription. Applications close on Tuesday, the 5th of September 2023 at 14:30 hrs., or earlier at the discretion of the Accountant General.

The new fixed rate bonds are:

MT0000013764 – 4.00% Malta Government Stock 2033 (IV) R

  • Interest payable semi-annually in arrears on 5th of June and the 5th of December.
  • The first interest payment will include accrued interest for the period from the 11th of September 2023 to the 4th of December 2023 (both dates inclusive) will be made on the 5th of December 2023.

The bond will be offered at €100.75 with a YTM of 3.9098% which corresponds to an annualised rate of 3.9480% and will mature on 5th of December 2033.

MT0000013798 – 4.30% Malta Government Stock 2038 (II) R

  • Interest payable semi-annually in arrears on the 15th of May and the 15th of November.
  • The first interest payment will include accrued interest for the period from the 11th of September 2023 to the 14th of November 2023 (both dates inclusive) will be made on the 15th of November 2023.

The bond will be offered at €102.00 with a YTM of 4.1210% which corresponds to an annualised rate of 4.1634% and will mature on 15th of November 2038.

The general public has the possibility of applying for these bonds in multiples of €100 and up to a maximum of €499,900 (nominal) per person.
