On Thursday 10th October 2019, MeDirect held its second edition of medirectalk, a series of seminars featuring several financial experts and asset managers on market and investment opportunities. This edition of medirectalk – held at AX The Palace, Sliema – featured Donald Phillips, David Roberts, and James Bedall from Liontrust Fund Partners LLP.
The event began with an introduction by Ray Calleja, Head of Consumer Banking at MeDirect, who highlighted the agenda and the speakers’ background within Liontrust.
Liontrust, a specialist fund management company, was launched in 1995 and has won a number of awards over the years, the latest of which is Morningstar’s Best UK Equity Fund 2019. Liontrust offers a wide variety of global funds and portfolios, one of which is the Liontrust GF High Yield Bond Fund, which is managed by Donald Phillips and Phil Milburn, with assistance from David Roberts. The fund is distributed locally through the MeDirect branch network and available on our MeDirect online platform.
During the seminar, Donald Phillips, David Roberts, and James Bedall gave an overview of the current markets and provided attendees with an update on the High Yield Bond Fund, which was launched in June 2018 by Liontrust. They also discussed what might lie ahead for the fixed income market in the future. The talk was followed by a question and answer session, where the speakers answered questions that the 120 people in attendance submitted. Drinks and canapés were served to conclude the evening.
